The Team
We have more new hires this quarter! We’ve added two new welders to our team, one specializing in aluminum.
It’s back to school season for our apprentices, so some of our welders and millwrights are hanging up their coveralls for a few weeks. We wish them luck in their studies.
And as a special note, as of this year, we have five GenTex employees who have been with us for over a decade, three of those have been with us for over 15 years. We’ve said it before, but it’s nice to have such a wide mix of seasoned staff and newcomers to share their ideas. We’re lucky to welcome new, returning, and longstanding staff alike.
From Garett
With all of the unrest in the world, being a prepper is no longer fringe or radical. What’s that saying? The difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth is 6-8 months?
The European Union released a preparedness strategy asking citizens to stockpile emergency supplies to last them at least three days. They referenced cyber threats and war as some of the looming dangers to be alert for. The preppers must be chuckling with their three-plus months of rations in some bunker, vindicated.
But looking down the barrel of tariffs and what we’ve already seen can happen when supply chains are challenged, prepping seems like a no-brainer. So this From Garett is a doomsday shortlist, send it to a European for their prep list if you want.
You have the standard prep: water, non-perishable food, flashlights, candles, maybe a camping stove? But the long game is having seeds, a garden, maybe raising chickens, cows, etc. Cash is king, metals continue to be precious, and crypto is still gaining in popularity, the options are endless unless you choose to do nothing or vote for a CBDC.
No better time to start than the spring!

There’s a federal election coming up, so it seems fitting to reflect on politics.
We’re proud to have our premier looking after Alberta first and the pushback on Ottawa is a welcome change from leaders past. She was called a traitor by the mainstream media for coming to the table with President Trump but now that all has gone well, will she be hailed as a hero? Doubtful, as mainstream media rarely admits fault, especially when it comes to a conservative! This overt bias is why many of us have turned to podcasts and independent media for our news sources.
As a business, it should be common sense to make sure your largest customer is listened to and looked after. As far as we can tell, she has a level head and wants the best for our province and will make deals to ensure our prosperity now and in the future. We are waiting to see how the federal election on April 28th will turn out, but with Premier Smith at the helm, at least we know Alberta is in good hands.
The Leaders Dinner following the election will be held on May 1st, in Red Deer. Will it be a celebration or a call to action?
Shoutout to the GenTex staff for their thoughtful Christmas gift to Garett. Come and see all the bells and whistles in the conference room here at GenTex Industries.
